Life with Others
What do we mean by a Real Life with Others?
Life Groups
Ever gone to a football game and cheered along with the other thousands of people and realized you are all for the same thing but you really don't know these people who are cheering alongside you, nor do they know you.
Our goal as a community of believers is to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. The Bible calls that Disciples or Discipleship. The goal is not to go to church. The goal is not to stop at just accepting Jesus as our Savior (beginning that relationship with God.) The goal is to be His Disciple. (Matt. 28 reminds us of this.) We know that we cannot do that on our own, in fact it is unbiblical to try to do this Christianity thing in solitary confinement. Jesus said, "they (the world) will know you are my disciples by your love for one another." So one of the many evidences of being a follower of Jesus is in relationships with others.
So with this in mind we knew that no matter how big Sunday services become it is critical for us to emphasis a smaller, more intimate encounter with Jesus together in what we call Life Groups (Our version of mid-week small groups). These groups meet at people's homes once a week for about an hour and a half. Childcare is provided and in becoming like Jesus anyone and any age is welcome. The size of the groups is 6-14 people.
There are four things to expect when coming to a life group. The first thing is we will look at God's Word through storytelling. Life is a story, even the bible is a story and we want to discover our place and our God through storytelling. Secondly, we will pray for and with one another. We know prayer was central to becoming like Jesus and we want to love one another in this way. Thirdly, we will be relationally accountable. What that means is each week there will be a volunteered time to say how you are going to apply what the Story is saying this week. So the next week, we will ask how you did. That way we don't just go to another program but we take what we have learned into our Real Lives with Real Opportunities to live like Jesus. Lastly, we are going to serve together. We don't just want to learn about Jesus but together we want to apply what we learn. Jesus said his purpose was not to be served but to serve and if our goal is to be like Jesus than we want to do this as well.

One additional note. We are so serious about Life Groups that if you have a conflict and have to choose between attending Sunday mornings services or attending a Life Group we say choose a life group 100% of the time. This is where you are going to be known and know others and together learn and apply what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
